- Description: The Deebot X12S looks familiar, but a closer look at IFA 2026 reveals bigger changes to carpet cleaning, edge coverage, privacy and dock maintenance.

Initial reporting and Ecovacs' own launch materials made the Deebot X12S look like a fairly modest update to the X12\. On the IFA show floor, however, a closer look reveals several hardware changes that were not immediately obvious from the announcement.

Some are easy to spot. Others are hidden underneath the robot or inside the dock, and together they make the X12S a more substantial update than the name alone might imply.

What has not changed much is the mopping system. The X12S carries over the same 10.6-inch Ozmo Roller 3.0 used on the X12.

## X12S Targets Carpet Cleaning and Edge Coverage

One of the biggest changes is underneath the robot.

Ecovacs says the X12S has a revised airflow system and a suction cavity designed to maintain downward pressure on carpet. An ultra-thin guide assembly allows the suction area to sit deeper in the carpet pile, which the company says improves airflow and pickup of embedded dirt.

The underside of the Ecovacs Deebot X12S shows its Ozmo Roller 3.0 mop, main brush and redesigned side-brush assembly.

The side brush has also been redesigned. Instead of remaining fixed in one position, it can move laterally from left to right as the robot cleans, giving it more flexibility along edges and around obstacles.

## X12S Adds a Physical Camera Privacy Shield

The X12S also adds a notable privacy feature with a physical shield that can cover the robot's cameras.

That gives owners a hardware-level way to block the cameras from viewing the room rather than relying only on software controls.

A close-up of the Ecovacs Deebot X12S front camera area highlights the hardware that supports the robot’s physical privacy shield, which can block the cameras from viewing the room when enabled.

The feature could appeal to privacy-conscious owners who are uncomfortable with an exposed camera moving throughout the home.

The trade-off is reduced camera-based obstacle recognition while the shield is closed.

## Two Dust-Collection Options and a Cleaner Dock

Ecovacs is offering two versions of the X12S platform.

One uses a traditional disposable dust bag with 2.5 liters of capacity, while the X12S OmniCyclone replaces the bag with a reusable 1.5-liter cyclone bin that can be removed and emptied directly into the trash.

The dock also gets a more meaningful maintenance upgrade.

A new automatic wash-tray system uses high-pressure water heated up to 212 degrees Fahrenheit to rinse the tray with clean water and flush away dirt and debris left behind after the roller is washed.

Taken together, the X12S is a more substantial upgrade over the X12 than its similar appearance suggests.

Ecovacs has made meaningful changes to carpet cleaning, edge coverage, privacy and dock maintenance without replacing the roller-mopping system at the center of the platform.

## T90S and T90 Max Expand the Roller-Mop Lineup

Ecovacs is also expanding the T90 family with additional models aimed at different price points.

The T90 Max Pro Omni serves as the more affordable entry into the updated lineup. It retains Ecovacs' roller-mopping system but gives up some of the higher-end features found on the T90S, including fast charging, while also using a lower-output vacuuming system.

The Ecovacs Deebot T90 Max cleans beneath low furniture while its compact navigation system keeps the robot’s profile low.

The existing T90 remains in the lineup, while the new T90S Pro Omni moves above it with stronger vacuum performance and several features borrowed from the X12S.

Those include the same physical camera privacy shield, a cover that drops over the roller mop to help keep carpets dry and an automatic wash-tray cleaning system.

The T90S Pro Omni is rated for up to 40,000 Pa of suction, up from 30,000 Pa on the current T90 Pro Omni.

Fast charging carries over from the existing T90, which already uses Ecovacs' PowerBoost system to add up to 10% battery capacity during a roughly three-minute dock stop.

The expanded lineup shows Ecovacs moving beyond the roller mop itself as the main differentiator. With the updated OZMO roller system now spreading across more models, the bigger differences are increasingly in vacuum performance, carpet handling, privacy and how much maintenance the dock can automate.

## U.S. Pricing and Availability

The Deebot X12S OmniCyclone is already available in the United States. Ecovacs currently lists it for $999.99, down from its $1,299.99 regular price.

The existing T90 Omni sells for $699.99 in the United States, while the T90 Pro Omni is priced at $799.99.

Ecovacs has not announced U.S. pricing or release dates for the new T90S, T90S Pro, T90 Max or T90 Max Pro models.

In Europe, the T90S and T90S Pro are scheduled to go on sale Sept. 24, while the T90 Max and T90 Max Pro launch Sept. 9.
