The Pro Omni uses a traditional 2.5-liter disposable dust bag. The OmniCyclone replaces that with a 1.5-liter reusable cyclone bin that owners can remove and empty directly into the trash. ## Ecovacs Reworks Carpet Cleaning Some of the X12S' biggest changes over the X12 are underneath the robot. Ecovacs redesigned the airflow path and added a suction cavity intended to maintain downward pressure while cleaning carpet. An ultra-thin guide assembly also allows the suction area to sit deeper into the carpet pile, which Ecovacs says improves airflow and helps remove embedded debris. The X12S Pro Omni is rated at 53 air watts and 27,000 Pa of maximum suction. Ecovacs says the revised system delivers more than 60% stronger suction than the previous generation. The main brush also gets thicker rubber strips designed to agitate carpet fibers, while ZeroTangle 4.0 uses lateral airflow to direct hair toward the suction inlet before it can wrap around the brush. ## Side Brush Can Move Laterally Ecovacs also redesigned the side-brush assembly. The movement gives the X12S more flexibility around edges and obstacles without relying on a traditional side brush that simply swings outward from the robot. The roller mop can extend about 1 inch beyond the robot through TruEdge 3.0, allowing it to reach beneath recessed cabinets and along baseboards. ## Physical Shield Can Cover the Cameras The X12S also adds a physical privacy shield over its cameras. Owners can close the shield to physically block the cameras from viewing the room instead of relying entirely on software privacy controls. There is a trade-off. Camera-based obstacle recognition is reduced while the shield is closed. ## Dock Can Wash Its Own Tray Ecovacs also made a significant change to dock maintenance. The X12S station uses a new automatic wash-tray cleaning system that sprays the tray with high-pressure clean water after the roller mop is washed. Water can be heated at the station's heating module to as high as 212 degrees Fahrenheit before the tray is rinsed, helping flush away dirt and debris that would otherwise collect at the bottom of the dock.
