# Ecovacs GOAT A2000 Becomes a ‘Don’t Buy’ After Latest Firmware Update Causes Critical Issues

As of September 26, 2026, we can no longer recommend the Ecovacs GOAT A2000 LiDAR Pro after the latest firmware update introduced repeated reliability problems that were not present through most of our summer testing.

Since installing the update, we have encountered random security alarms, repeated bumper-stuck errors and new problems in low-obstacle-avoidance zones. In one case, the security alarm went off without warning and would not stop until we powered down the mower down and turned it back on.

The mower has also begun digging into the yard in some low-obstacle-avoidance zones before stopping with a bumper-stuck error, even though neither the bumper nor the wheels are actually stuck.

Troubleshooting is made more frustrating by the A2000's unintuitive physical controls. Compared with the MOVA LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWD, the button layout is far less forgiving.

Holding down a single button can trigger major actions, including completely resetting the mower or deleting its configured Wi-Fi network.

The A2000 had been remarkably reliable through most of our five months of testing, and our complaints during the summer were relatively minor.

The latest firmware has changed that considerably. The mower now requires far more intervention than it did earlier in our testing, and until Ecovacs addresses these problems, we can no longer recommend it.
