A robot that supports several saved maps can clean different levels, but it still needs help getting between them. Map selection, charge and access to dock services matter more than simply carrying it upstairs.

These instructions focus on newer Roombas that use the Roomba Home app. Older robots using iRobot Home (Classic) have different controls and care instructions.

## Does Your Robot Support More Than One Map?

Use the map-saving tools available for your Roomba Home model. The app supports multiple maps on compatible robots, but the number offered and the cleaning options can vary.

If your model does not offer another saved map, follow its instructions for cleaning a new area. Do not overwrite the main layout just to look for a multiple-floor feature.

## How Do You Add Another Floor?

1. Finish and save the first floor’s map.
2. Charge the robot before moving it.
3. Open the map-management controls in the Roomba Home app.
4. Add a separate floor or secondary map if supported.
5. Follow the app’s mapping prompts in the new area.
6. Name and review the result before starting room cleaning.

Keep the first map when creating the second. Check that the app is showing the right layout after each move.

## Do You Need to Move the Dock?

A robot can only use charging, emptying, washing or refilling services when it can physically reach its own compatible station.

Some supported models can map and vacuum another floor without the dock. Check that feature in your guide before planning a long job, and do not assume a second charger will provide wet-maintenance functions.

## Can You Mop on Another Level?

Check the model’s instructions for cleaning away from its station. Water supply, wastewater capacity and mop-washing needs can limit the task.

Try vacuuming first while learning how the robot handles the floor. Do not promise the same wet-cleaning coverage upstairs as on the level with the station.

## What Happens When the Task Ends?

Check the app before leaving the robot unattended on another floor. It may need to be carried back for charging or maintenance.

Confirm that charging begins after returning it to its dock. Use physical protection around exposed drops, and carry the robot by its body as instructed rather than by a sensor or removable cover.
