More cleaning options do not have to mean more work. Start with the task you want the robot to perform, then change one setting at a time if the result needs improvement.

These instructions focus on newer Roombas that use the Roomba Home app. Older robots using iRobot Home (Classic) have different controls and care instructions.

## Which Cleaning Mode Should You Choose?

Roomba Home offers model-dependent suction, liquid, cleaning-pass and scrubbing settings. Mini changes to mopping when its disposable wipe assembly is attached; it does not offer an AutoWash robot’s water-handling controls.

Vacuuming collects dry debris. Mopping uses the wet-cleaning system. A combined task can do both, while a sequential option, where available, vacuums before mopping.

Use only wet-cleaning modes approved for your floor surface. A carpet-protection feature does not make every rug suitable for a wet-cleaning run.

## How Much Suction Do You Need?

A middle setting is a practical starting point for routine dust and crumbs. Increase suction if dry debris remains after the robot has covered the area.

If performance suddenly declines, inspect the bin, filter and brush before changing settings. More power cannot remove a physical blockage.

## What Does Water Flow Change?

Water flow affects how much water the mopping system uses. Scrubbing, route and wash-frequency controls, where offered, do different jobs.

Follow your flooring manufacturer’s care guidance. Test a short run and check the finish before increasing water use, especially on floors sensitive to moisture.

## When Should You Add Another Pass?

If the app offers repeat passes, use them for an area that needs extra attention, such as an entryway or dining space. Another whole-home pass may add time without helping the room that matters most.

Clean the mop if it leaves streaks rather than repeatedly increasing water flow.

## Can Rooms Have Different Settings?

Where the Roomba Home app offers custom room preferences, set them while building the task. A carpeted bedroom and a tiled kitchen may need different modes.

After saving, review the task summary. Automatic or intelligent cleaning may adapt its behavior, so choose manual settings when you want a controlled comparison.
