A saved map lets you send your Roborock to the kitchen, keep it out of selected areas and build more useful cleaning schedules.

This guide focuses on Roborock models released in 2026\. Map tools and menu names can differ as the app is updated.

## How Do You Prepare for Mapping?

Put the dock in its intended location before starting. Open doors to the rooms you want included, pick up cords and loose objects, and clear a route between rooms.

Keep the dock in place while the robot maps. A closed door can leave a room missing from the result.

## How Do You Create the First Map?

1. Open your robot in the Roborock app.
2. Choose the mapping option shown during setup, such as Quick Mapping.
3. Start the run from the dock.
4. Let the robot finish and return without carrying it between rooms.
5. Review the saved map before setting up room cleaning.

If the app calls for a cleaning run to create the map, follow that instruction instead.

## How Do You Split or Merge Rooms?

Open the map’s editing controls and find the room-editing options.

Use the divide or split tool when the app has combined areas you want to clean separately. Use merge when one room has been divided unnecessarily. Save the changes.

For an open kitchen and dining area, separate rooms can make it easier to clean only the kitchen after cooking.

## Can You Change Room Names?

Use the room-naming option in the map editor. Choose names that are easy to recognize when selecting a room or building a routine.

Check the names against the actual layout before saving.

## How Do No-Go Zones and Invisible Walls Work?

A no-go zone marks an area to avoid. An invisible wall creates a virtual boundary. Add and position either through the map’s editing tools, then save.

Use these tools to manage cleaning around places such as a desk with loose cables. They do not replace physical barriers around stairs or other hazardous drops.

## What If the Map Looks Wrong?

Check that you are viewing the correct floor and that doors and pathways were open during mapping. Try correcting room divisions before deleting a usable map.

After editing, run a small room-cleaning task to check that the boundaries match what you intended.
