A Roborock dock can wash the mop automatically, but it still collects the dirt removed from your floors. If you notice an odor, check the dirty-water tank, mop and washing area first.

This guide focuses on Roborock models released in 2026\. Roller-mop robots have additional wastewater parts that need attention.

## Start With the Dirty-Water Tank

As a practical habit, empty dirty water after mopping rather than leaving it until the next cleaning day.

Remove the dock’s dirty-water tank, pour out the contents and rinse it with cold water. Close and secure the lid before reinstalling the tank. Wipe water off its exterior.

If you have a dock connected to household plumbing, follow that version’s maintenance instructions instead of the removable-tank steps.

## Check the Mop Itself

Inspect the mop for trapped dirt or persistent odor after washing.

Remove and clean washable pads, cloths or the roller according to the manual. Let them air-dry when removed, and replace worn material that no longer cleans effectively.

Do not assume the same removal method works for spinning pads, vibrating cloths and rollers.

## Clean the Dock’s Washing Area

Turn off the robot, unplug the dock and let hot components cool before maintenance.

Remove debris from the tray, filter or maintenance brush that your manual identifies. Wash only the removable parts approved for rinsing, then reinstall them securely.

Do not hose down the dock.

## What Is Different About Roller-Mop Models?

Some roller-mop robots collect wastewater inside the robot as well as at the dock. Check the onboard dirty-water tank and removable water channel using your model’s instructions.

Cleaning only the dock tank can leave another source of dirty water untouched.

## Make Sure Drying Can Finish

If your dock supports drying, confirm that automatic drying is enabled. Allow the cycle to finish before starting another task.

Where the app offers an adjustable drying time, a longer cycle may help in humid conditions. If the mop stays wet, check for a drying problem rather than repeatedly washing it.

## Should You Add Something to Mask the Odor?

Use only cleaning solution approved by Roborock for your appliance, in the location and amount specified. Avoid household disinfectants, fragrances or improvised tank additives.

If the smell quickly returns after cleaning, identify which component smells before repeating the process.
