Your Roborock’s strongest setting is not always the one you need for everyday crumbs and dust. Cleaning mode, suction, water flow and repeat passes each affect a different part of the job.

This guide focuses on Roborock robot vacuums released in 2026\. Available controls depend on the robot’s hardware and software.

## What Do the Cleaning Modes Mean?

Vacuum mode picks up dry debris. Mop mode cleans with the mopping system. A combined mode handles vacuuming and mopping in the same task.

Some models also offer a sequence that vacuums before mopping. Select among the modes available on your robot’s cleaning screen.

A useful starting approach is to vacuum loose dirt before tackling marks with the mop.

## How Much Suction Should You Use?

Start with a middle suction setting for routine cleaning, then check the result. Increase it when the robot leaves dry debris behind, particularly on carpet.

Higher suction generally brings more noise and battery use. If pickup suddenly becomes poor, inspect the dustbin, filter and brushes before relying on maximum power.

## What Does Water Flow Change?

Water flow controls how much water the robot uses for mopping. Depending on the model, separate controls may adjust scrubbing intensity or the cleaning route.

Follow your flooring manufacturer’s cleaning instructions. Begin conservatively and check the floor after a short run before increasing water use.

A higher water setting is not a substitute for a clean mop.

## When Should You Add Another Cleaning Pass?

A repeat pass sends the robot over the selected area again. Try it in a busy entryway or around the dining table when one pass leaves debris behind.

Target the area that needs attention rather than automatically repeating the entire home.

## Can Different Rooms Use Different Settings?

Where custom room settings are available, choose the rooms and assign their cleaning preferences. For example, you might use vacuuming in a carpeted bedroom and vacuuming with mopping in the kitchen.

Check carpet-handling options separately. Mop lifting, detachment and avoidance features vary.

## What Is SmartPlan?

On supported models, SmartPlan lets the robot select cleaning behavior automatically. Use it for convenience, or choose manual settings when you want more direct control over a particular task.
