A Roborock with multiple-map support can clean more than one floor, but you still need to carry the robot between levels and plan for any dock services it needs.

This guide focuses on Roborock models released in 2026\. Check the map-management options available for your robot before adding another floor.

## Do You Need to Move the Dock?

For supported multiple-floor mapping, the dock can stay on its usual level. You can carry the charged robot to another floor to create a separate map.

Without its dock nearby, the robot cannot recharge, empty its dustbin or use the dock’s mop-washing services during that run.

Vacuuming is a practical first task to try on a floor without a dock.

## How Do You Add Another Floor?

1. Finish and save the map for the floor with the dock.
2. Open map management in the Roborock app.
3. Enable the multiple-floor option if required.
4. Choose to create a new map.
5. Carry the charged robot to the other level and follow the mapping prompts.
6. Let the run finish, then give the map a clear name if that option is available.

Do not overwrite the first floor’s map when creating the second.

## How Does the Robot Know Which Floor It Is On?

Supported robots can recognize a previously mapped floor. After moving the robot, check that the app shows the right layout before sending it to a named room.

If recognition fails, select the appropriate saved map where the app allows it and try again.

## Can It Mop Upstairs?

Check your robot’s instructions before starting a mopping run away from the dock. Washing, water refilling and waste collection needs depend on the mopping system.

Do not assume that a robot can complete the same mopping area upstairs as it can with regular access to its dock.

## What Happens When Cleaning Ends?

A robot mapping another floor without a dock may return to its starting point. Carry it back to its own dock afterward and check that charging begins.

Review the dustbin and mop before the next task.

## What About Stairs?

Use a physical barrier where needed to prevent falls. A saved map or no-go zone is a cleaning control, not a substitute for protecting an exposed drop.
