The system is a technology preview rather than a product launch, and iRobot has not announced pricing, availability or plans to bring it to market. When it reaches an area it cannot access, the arm lowers the smaller Roomba to the floor so it can clean beneath furniture, between chair legs and in other confined spaces. The arm keeps the smaller robot level while raising and lowering it. Both robots share the same home map and communicate through the Roomba Home app, allowing cleaning duties to be divided based on where each machine can reach. ## Main Robot Adds Roller Mopping and Steam A 2.36-inch roller mop applies 46 newtons of downward pressure and continuously cleans itself while the robot is operating. The Duo main unit can apply steam ahead of the roller to help loosen dried-on messes, while a hot-air system behind it helps dry the floor after mopping. ## Smaller Roomba Handles Tight Spaces The smaller robot measures 3.29 inches tall and 11.73 inches wide. Its extending mop can move 1.22 inches beyond the side of the robot for edge cleaning, while an extending side brush reaches into corners and along walls. Lifting omnidirectional wheels allow it to cross thresholds up to 1.38 inches, according to iRobot. ## Duo Shares Navigation and Docking Both robots use ClearView Pro dual-line lidar and PrecisionVision AI for navigation and obstacle avoidance. The larger robot also includes higher-mounted cameras that give it a wider view of rooms and furniture. Its 6.69-inch wheels are driven by hub motors to support the larger body while carrying the second robot.
