Narwal has launched the JX Ultra in China, introducing a new premium mid-tier robot vacuum with an extending side brush, redesigned front sensor array and hotter active mopping.

The JX Ultra went on sale Aug. 26 as part of Narwal’s 10th-anniversary lineup, with the water-tank version priced at 4,299 yuan, or about $600.

The launch is especially notable ahead of IFA 2026, where Narwal could reveal an international version under the Freo line during its Sept. 3 press event in Berlin.

## Hell Has Frozen Over

The JX Ultra adds a true extending side-brush arm that moves beyond the robot’s body to clean closer to walls, furniture edges and corners, similar to mechanisms used by Roborock, Dreame and other brands.

Narwal’s Chinese promotional materials also suggest the arm can lift when needed, helping keep the side brush out of wet messes and spills.

Narwal has been one of the few major robot vacuum manufacturers to hold off on adopting a true extending side brush. The original Freo, Freo X Ultra and Freo Z Ultra instead use two conventional side brushes mounted on opposite sides of the robot.

Beginning with the Flow, Narwal introduced a reversing side brush with a hinged arm that changes position as the brush reverses, allowing it to reach farther into corners.

Narwal carried that design over to both the Flow 2 and Freo 20 line.

## Front Sensor Hardware Gets a New Layout

The JX Ultra features a redesigned sensor array that integrates its dual binocular cameras and dToF sensor into a single, unified module.

Narwal’s marketing materials do not provide additional details about the new sensor array or identify the JX Ultra’s AI processor or obstacle-avoidance system.

## Other Minor Upgrades

The JX Ultra keeps Narwal’s FlowWash track-mop system but raises the active mopping temperature to as high as 158 F. The Freo 20 and Flow 2 currently use water heated to as high as 140 F during mopping.

Based on Narwal’s marketing images, the track-mop roller itself appears unchanged.

Narwal rates the JX Ultra at 32,000 Pa of suction, only slightly above the Flow 2’s 31,000 Pa.

## Beyond China

Narwal’s Sept. 3 IFA press event could provide the first indication of whether the JX Ultra is headed to markets beyond China, potentially Europe and Australia.

A U.S. release remains uncertain because of new FCC restrictions affecting certain foreign-made robotics equipment.

The company has not announced international pricing, launch timing or regional availability.
