How to Connect Your Roomba to Amazon Alexa
Link your robot’s account, confirm the connection and check which cleaning controls are available.
Connecting your iRobot Roomba to Alexa lets you use supported cleaning controls without opening the robot’s app for every task. Setup starts with a working robot connection and the correct account.
Use Roomba Home for supported newer families. Older Roombas use iRobot Home (Classic), and their screen layout differs. Finish Wi-Fi setup in the correct app before linking a voice service.
What Do You Need Before Starting?
Update the robot’s app, its firmware and the Alexa app. Have your account sign-in available and confirm that you can start or pause a task in the Roomba Home app.
For spoken control, set up a compatible voice-enabled speaker or device. Support can vary by model, country and account region.
How Do You Connect It?
- Open the correct Roomba or iRobot app for your robot.
- Find Smart Home, then Voice Assistants, and choose Amazon Alexa.
- Follow the handoff to Alexa or the Amazon sign-in page.
- Confirm account linking when prompted.
- Return to the robot app for the success confirmation and check Alexa’s device list.
Menu wording can change with app updates. Follow the current prompts for the official integration when the labels differ.

Which Service Should You Use?
Start through the robot app’s Amazon Alexa entry to use its intended service. iRobot’s current command documentation covers both the Classic and newer Roomba Home generations, but available actions still depend on the model.
How Do You Check That Linking Worked?
Open the robot’s tile or device entry and try an available basic control. Confirm the response at the robot or in its own app before adding an automated routine.
iRobot documents basic voice cleaning commands and additional actions for compatible robots. Test a simple start first; a saved room map and a compatible integration are both needed before relying on room-specific requests.

Does Assigning a Room Set Up Room Cleaning?
Assigning the robot to a room in Alexa organizes the smart-home device. It does not draw a cleaning boundary or replace the robot’s own map.
Set up rooms and names in the robot app, then check whether the linked service supports targeted cleaning.
What If the Robot Does Not Appear?
Check the owning account, region and online status. If it works in the Roomba Home app, review the account link or discovery step before resetting the robot.
Contact iRobot support if the official service is unavailable for your model or the same linking error returns. A factory reset is not a routine first step for a voice-service problem.
