VacuBots ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at vacubots.com. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit the site, how it is used, and what choices you have. We keep this short and plain because our approach is simple: we collect as little as possible, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.

Who We Are

VacuBots is an independent publication covering robot vacuums, robot mowers, and related home cleaning technology. You can reach us at editor@vacubots.com with any question about this policy or about information we hold.

Information You Give Us

You can read VacuBots without giving us anything. Two optional features collect information, and both are ones you choose to use:

  • Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe, we collect your email address so we can send you new posts and updates.
  • Site accounts. Our site runs on Ghost, which lets you create a free member account. Signing up collects your email address, and optionally a name if you provide one.

We use this information only to run the newsletter and your account. We do not sell it, share it for marketing, or use it to build a profile of you. It is stored by Ghost as our publishing platform, and we access it only to manage the site.

Information Collected Automatically

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which articles they read. Google Analytics sets cookies and may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you view on our site. This information is processed by Google under its own privacy policy, which you can read at policies.google.com/privacy.

Our hosting and publishing platform also records standard technical information — for example, server logs and cookies needed to keep you signed in to your account.

Embedded Video

Some of our articles include videos embedded from YouTube. When a page with an embedded video loads, YouTube may set cookies and receive information about your visit — including your IP address and the page you are viewing — whether or not you press play. If you are signed in to a Google account, YouTube may associate that activity with your account. This is handled by Google under its privacy policy, and you can manage what Google collects through your Google account settings.

We do not run our own tracking, advertising, or profiling systems. The tracking that happens on this site comes from the third-party services described in this policy. That said, we chose those services, so if you have a concern about them, tell us and we will take it seriously.

VacuBots is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through links on this site, at no extra cost to you.

When you click an affiliate link, Amazon records the visit — typically with a cookie — so any resulting purchase can be attributed to us. That process is handled entirely by Amazon under Amazon's privacy notice. We receive only aggregate reporting on clicks and commissions. We never see your name, your payment details, or what else is in your cart.

Affiliate relationships do not influence our coverage. We link to products because we think they are worth reading about, not because of what they pay.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them for three things: keeping you signed in if you have an account, remembering basic display preferences, and analytics as described above. Affiliate networks such as Amazon may also set cookies when you click through to them, and embedded YouTube videos set their own cookies when a page containing one loads.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them may mean you cannot stay signed in to a member account, but the articles will still work fine.

Unsubscribing and Deleting Your Data

Every newsletter we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it removes you from the list immediately, and you do not need to give a reason or contact us first.

If you want your account deleted or your email removed from our records entirely, email us at editor@vacubots.com and we will take care of it. Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to access, correct, export, or delete the information we hold about you, or to object to how it is used. We honor these requests regardless of where you live.

Children Under 13

VacuBots is not directed at children, and this site is not intended for anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it promptly.

Our articles link to retailers, manufacturers, and other publications. Once you follow a link off our site, this policy no longer applies — you are on someone else's site, subject to their privacy practices. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information.

Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes to how we handle your information will be announced on the site or by email to subscribers.
