ECOVACS Q3 Net Profit Falls 72% as Company Plans Share Buyback

Ecovacs Robotics Co. reported a significant decline in its third-quarter financial results for 2026, as rising component costs and market fluctuations impacted the company's bottom line.

The company's net profit for the quarter fell 72.43% year-over-year to 120.88 million yuan ($17.64 million), despite operating revenue reaching 4.65 billion yuan ($678.45 million), a 10.61% increase compared to the same period last year.

Total profit for the quarter also saw a substantial drop, decreasing 81.38% to 78.82 million yuan ($11.50 million).

Supply Chain Pressures Squeeze Margins

For the first nine months of 2026, Ecovacs reported a gross profit of approximately 6.86 billion yuan ($1 billion), calculated from total revenue of 14.99 billion yuan ($2.19 billion) against operating costs of 8.13 billion yuan ($1.19 billion).

The company noted that its gross margin was negatively impacted by a significant increase in the purchase price of memory chips and a strengthening Chinese yuan.

Revenue Growth vs. Profitability

The company attributed its top-line revenue growth to continued demand for its robotic products, though profitability was hindered by external market factors.

Investment Losses Impact Bottom Line

Additionally, the company's net profit was negatively impacted by a decline in the fair value of its publicly traded external investment projects, reflecting recent volatility in the broader market.

Operational Focus Shifts

Ecovacs did not report any new share repurchase activity during the third quarter, focusing instead on managing its core operational challenges.

Strategic Stockpiling Hits Cash Flow

The report highlighted several areas of potential concern. The company reported a negative net cash flow from operating activities of -342.03 million yuan (-$49.91 million) for the first nine months of the year, a significant drop from the previous year. Ecovacs attributed this to the timing of subsidy collections last year and strategic stockpiling of semiconductor components, including memory chips.
