Roomba Won’t Connect to Wi-Fi or Shows Offline? Here’s What to Do
Check power, app setup and network settings before resetting your robot.
An offline message can mean the robot has lost its network connection, but it can also appear when the robot is off or the app cannot reach its account. Start with the simplest checks.
These instructions focus on newer Roombas that use the Roomba Home app. Older robots using iRobot Home (Classic) have different controls and care instructions.
Are You Using the Right App?
Use Roomba Home for supported newer families and iRobot Home (Classic) for legacy models. The current app listing identifies the compatible families; choosing the wrong app can stop setup before Wi-Fi is even checked.
Open the robot’s device page and check whether it responds there. If the manufacturer’s app works but a voice assistant does not, troubleshoot account linking rather than resetting Wi-Fi immediately.
What Should You Check First?
- Confirm that the robot is powered on and has charge.
- Check that your phone can use the home network.
- Move within good Wi-Fi coverage for setup.
- Verify the network name and password.
- Update the app and review the permissions requested during pairing.
Allow Bluetooth or local-network access when the setup guide requires it. Follow the app’s prompts if it asks you to join the robot’s temporary network.

Does the Wi-Fi Band Matter?
Yes. Use a band supported by your exact model. A router can broadcast more than one band under the same name, so check its settings if pairing repeatedly fails.
Do not remove password protection or change unrelated router settings just to test the vacuum.
What If You Changed Routers or Passwords?
Use the model-specific Wi-Fi reconnection procedure in the Roomba Home app. A network-name or password change can require pairing again even when the robot still appears in your device list.
Restarting the robot and router is a reasonable check before repeating setup.

Should You Perform a Factory Reset?
A factory reset is a later troubleshooting step, not a routine fix for an offline icon. It can remove saved settings and create extra setup work.
If reconnection fails, record the pairing stage and error message. Share those details with iRobot support so they can distinguish a network problem from an account or device fault.
