How to Create and Edit Your Matic Map

Rename rooms, correct boundaries and make Matic’s layout more useful for everyday cleaning.

Matic’s map helps you select a room or area without starting a whole-home task. Review it after setup so the names and divisions match how you use your home.

These instructions cover the current Matic app. Screen locations can change with updates.

How Should You Prepare for Mapping?

Open doors to areas you want included and clear loose objects from important passageways. Let Matic finish the mapping process offered during setup without carrying it between rooms.

Check the result before creating a detailed schedule. A room behind a closed door may be missing even when the rest of the map looks correct.

Where Are the Room Controls?

  1. Open the Matic app.
  2. Select Edit Map.
  3. Choose Edit Rooms.
  4. Tap the room you want to change.

The room menu offers options to rename, merge, split or delete a room.

How Do You Rename a Room?

Choose Rename this room and enter a clear name. Use names that will be easy to recognize when selecting a cleaning area later.

Review the highlighted room before saving so a familiar name is not attached to the wrong section.

How Do You Split or Merge Rooms?

For a split, choose Split this room, select the pencil tool, draw the boundary and confirm the split.

For a merge, choose Merge rooms, select the adjacent areas and confirm the merge. This is useful when the map divides one space into several sections you normally clean together.

What About Floor Types and No-Go Areas?

Matic provides separate editing tools for floor types and no-go areas. Use a floor-type correction when the robot treats hard flooring like carpet; use an exclusion when you want it to avoid a particular area.

Do not confuse a temporary area selected for cleaning with a persistent no-go area.

Should You Delete a Room to Fix It?

Try the available boundary and naming tools first. After editing, run a small task and confirm that the robot cleans the intended area before relying on an automatic schedule.
