Matic Launches Quieter Serene Robot Vacuum for $1,695
Matic introduces the $1,695 Serene with quieter vacuum hardware rated at 52 decibels.
Matic has introduced the Matic Serene, a new version of its robot vacuum and mop with a redesigned vacuum system intended to reduce noise and soften the high-frequency whine heard during cleaning.
Redesigned Vacuum System Targets High-Frequency Noise
Matic rates the Serene at 52 decibels, compared with 55 decibels for the standard model. Because decibels follow a logarithmic scale, that reduction represents roughly half the sound intensity under comparable testing conditions, though it does not mean the robot sounds half as loud.
The company says the redesigned vacuum system also reduces high-frequency whine, producing a smoother, less piercing sound during cleaning.
The company says the redesigned vacuum stack reduces prominent high-frequency tones, producing a smoother sound. The changes address both the noise level and the sharper whine that can stand out during cleaning.
The Serene retains the original model’s navigation, vacuuming and self-cleaning mop capabilities, according to Matic.
Familiar Cleaning System and Camera Navigation
The Serene retains Matic’s front-mounted cleaning head and large drive wheels. It carries its dust bag and water tank onboard, handling debris collection and water storage inside the robot rather than in a large maintenance dock.
Its camera-based navigation system uses five cameras with color and infrared imaging to map rooms in three dimensions and detect obstacles.

Matic also supports voice and gesture controls, allowing owners to send the robot to a room, call it over or point to an area they want cleaned.
Existing Owners Can Request a Hardware Upgrade
Existing Matic owners can request a Serene hardware upgrade beginning Feb. 1, 2027.
The cost will equal the difference between the owner’s original purchase price and the Serene’s $1,695 price. Someone who paid $1,495 would pay $200, while an owner who paid $1,095 would pay $600.
Matic says upgrades will be arranged through support on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to limited capacity. The upgraded vacuum stack will carry a six-month limited warranty.
Availability and Pricing
The Matic Serene is available to order in the United States for $1,695 through Matic’s website, with shipping scheduled to begin Nov. 10.
Matic was the first robot vacuum maker to receive conditional approval under the FCC’s new robotics restrictions.
The company designs and assembles its robots in Mountain View, California.
