How to Keep Your Matic Mop and Waste System From Smelling
Check the HEPA bag, mop roll, cavity and wringer when an odor develops.
Matic does not store wastewater in a large self-washing dock. Its odor checks focus on the robot’s own waste and mopping components.
Use the current care instructions for your hardware version, especially around the wringer.
Where Should You Start?
Check the HEPA bag. If it has collected something that smells, Matic recommends replacing it even before it is full.
Do not try to cover the odor by adding fragrance to the bag or robot.
How Do You Clean the Mop Roll?
Remove the roll using Matic’s instructions. Rinse it under running water as directed, then let it dry completely before reinstalling it.
Check the cavity behind the roll for residue. Cleaning only the visible outer surface may leave the source of the odor inside the cleaning head.

What About the Wringer?
Matic has used different wringer designs. Identify yours before removing it.
Follow the matching guide to remove debris, rinse the approved component and reinstall it fully. A recurring wringer error needs its own troubleshooting rather than another scheduled cleanup.
Before tipping the robot for access, remove its water tank and HEPA bag as instructed.
Can You Put Cleaning Solution in Matic?
Use Matic’s current approved-solution guidance, including its floor-surface restrictions and dose. Do not substitute a household disinfectant or a stronger mixture.
Approval for one cleaner does not make every product from the same manufacturer suitable.

What If the Smell Remains?
Matic’s odor guide also covers the internal bin area, water tank and antimicrobial cartridge. Inspect those items using the published procedure.
If basic care does not solve it, contact support. Matic describes a dedicated mop-tube cleaning tool for further treatment; do not improvise with a wire or another object.
How Can You Reduce Repeat Problems?
Check the bag and mop after collecting an unusually dirty mess. Keep up with prompted maintenance rather than waiting for an odor to become strong.
After cleaning, run a small task and check the affected component again so you can tell whether the original source was removed.
