How to Use Matic on Multiple Floors
Add another layout, check the active map and plan for charging on each level.
Matic can remember more than one floor, but an owner still needs to carry it between levels. A second map does not give the robot a route up the stairs or access to a charger on another floor.
These steps follow Matic’s current multiple-floor guidance.
How Do You Add a New Floor?
- Carry Matic to the new level using its approved lifting method.
- Look for the Map A New Floor prompt in the app.
- If the prompt does not appear, open Edit Map and choose Add New Map.
- Let Matic complete the new layout.
- Review the rooms before starting a scheduled or manual task.
Keep the existing floor map rather than replacing it.
Does Matic Switch Maps Automatically?
Matic’s support guidance says it can recognize a previously mapped floor and switch to its layout. You can also change the displayed floor by selecting its name in the app.
Check that the layout is correct before asking it to clean a named room.

Do You Need Another Charging Dock?
Matic can map and clean without a dock on that level, but it cannot recharge at an unreachable charger.
Its support team recommends moving the dock or adding a second compatible dock when needed for longer use. Choose a stable, accessible position and check that charging works there.
Can It Mop Upstairs?
Prepare the water tank, HEPA bag and mop for the job before carrying Matic. The charging dock does not provide the water refill or waste removal found on a multifunctional station.
Plan to service the robot yourself if it needs attention on the other level.

What About Split-Level Rooms?
Matic’s guidance allows a sunken living room and adjacent raised area to share a map, but you still need to carry it across the level change. Place it a few feet from the ledge afterward.
Review how stairs and drops are marked after mapping, and use physical protection where needed.
What Should You Check After Cleaning?
Return Matic to a reachable charger and confirm that charging begins. Review the current floor before the next room-specific job.
