Dyson’s R1 Nurovi Dry and R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry robot vacuums are now available in the United States.

The $699 R2 uses two rounded triangular mop pads instead of the circular spinning pads found on most robot vacuums. The $549.99 R1 is a vacuum-only model for carpet and hard floors.

Dyson unveiled both models Sept. 3 ahead of IFA 2026 in Berlin.

R2 Uses Rounded Triangular Mop Pads

The R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry uses two rounded triangular mop pads that Dyson says reach closer to walls and into corners than conventional circular pads.

The Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry uses triangular mop pads to clean along walls and other edges.

It has up to 21,000 Pa of suction, automatic floor detection and an extending side brush.

The R1 and R2 also use a two-part cleaning head. One section sweeps in larger debris, while a separate concentrated suction path handles finer dust.

The dock empties dry debris, refills the robot and washes the mop pads with water heated to 167 degrees Fahrenheit before drying them with 113-degree air.

Dry debris is collected at the dock in a bagless cyclonic bin rather than a disposable dust bag.

R1 Focuses on Dry Cleaning

The R1 Nurovi Dry removes the R2’s mopping system and is aimed at homes that only need vacuuming.

It keeps the same 21,000 Pa suction rating and lidar navigation, along with the self-emptying bagless dock and extending side brush.

A Shift From the 360 Vis Nav

The new Nurovi models move away from the approach Dyson took with the 360 Vis Nav.

The Vis Nav used camera-based navigation, Dyson’s own Hyperdymium motor and cyclonic separation inside the robot.

The new models use lidar, a more conventional motor and suction system, with an engineering approach that is more common across the robot vacuum market.

Still Waiting on the R3

The R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV has also been announced for the U.S., but Dyson has not yet made it available to purchase.
