Dyson has launched the R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV in the United States, just six months after introducing the original Spot+Scrub AI.

The new model brings several improvements to both the robot and dock, including more suction, UV stain detection and higher washing and drying temperatures.

R3 Builds on the Spot+Scrub AI

Suction increases from 18,000 Pa on the Spot+Scrub AI to 30,000 Pa on the R3. An anti-tangle silicone brush roller and two side brushes handle dry debris, with suction automatically increasing on carpet.

The R3 uses a self-cleaning mop roller that supplies fresh water through 12 hydration points while removing dirty water as it cleans. The roller extends up to 1.57 inches toward walls and lifts 0.39 inches when carpet is detected.

The Dyson R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV uses a front-mounted roller mop system designed to scrub stains while separating clean and dirty water.

An HD camera and AI identify spills, stains and household objects. Dyson says the system can recognize more than 200 and determine how many passes are needed to clean a stain, with up to 15 passes for difficult messes.

The R3 adds UV illumination to check for remaining stains between passes.

Lidar handles mapping and navigation, while the camera is also used for object detection.

Dyson rates the R3 for up to 200 minutes of runtime and lists a three-hour charging time.

Dock Gets Hotter Washing and Drying

Dyson continues to use a bagless self-emptying system on the R3. Ten cyclones separate dry debris as it is transferred from the robot, with Dyson claiming up to 100 days of capacity.

The dock washes the mop roller with 158-degree water and dries it with 131-degree air, up from 140-degree water and 113-degree air on the Spot+Scrub AI.

It also refills the robot's water tank and automatically dispenses Dyson's O2 Probiotic hard floor cleaning solution.

Price and Availability

The Dyson R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV is available directly from Dyson for $1,199.99, joining the vacuum-only $549.99 R1 Nurovi Dry and $699 R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry with triangular mop pads.
