How to Connect Your Dreame Robot Vacuum to Amazon Alexa
Link your robot’s account, confirm the connection and check which cleaning controls are available.
How to Connect Your Dreame Robot Vacuum to Alexa
Connecting your Dreame robot vacuum to Alexa lets you start cleaning, pause a cleanup or send the robot back to its dock without reaching for your phone. Some models also support voice commands for suction, water flow and dock maintenance.
First, make sure the vacuum works in Dreamehome. These instructions cover robots registered in that app.
What Do You Need Before Starting?
Have these items ready:
- A compatible robot that is online in Dreamehome.
- The sign-in information for the Dreamehome account that owns the robot.
- The Amazon Alexa app, signed in to the Amazon account you use for Alexa.
- An Alexa-enabled device, such as an Echo speaker or Echo Show, for voice commands.
Install available updates for both apps and the robot’s firmware. Then start and pause a cleanup in Dreamehome to confirm that the robot responds.
Check your model’s compatibility information if you are unsure whether Alexa is supported in your country.
Which Alexa Skill Should You Choose?
Choose Dreamehome if that is where you registered the vacuum. A skill connects Alexa to the service that manages your robot.
If your robot is registered only in Mi Home or Xiaomi Home, check Dreame’s instructions for that app and model. Linking a separate Dreamehome account will not transfer the robot.
How Do You Connect Your Dreame to Alexa?
- Open the Amazon Alexa app.
- Tap More, then Skills & Games. Some layouts place Skills & Games under Explore Alexa+ Services.
- Search for Dreamehome and open the official skill.
- Tap Enable to Use.
- Follow the prompts to sign in with the Dreamehome account that owns the robot and allow access.
- Let Alexa discover the vacuum. If discovery does not start, say, “Alexa, discover my devices,” or open Devices and choose Add Device.
- Check Devices for your vacuum.
Dreame outlines account linking and discovery in its Alexa connection instructions. Follow the current prompts if your app’s menu labels differ.

Can You Start From Dreamehome Instead?
Yes. Open Me, choose Voice Control, then select Amazon Alexa. Follow the linking prompts, approve the connection in Alexa and return to Dreamehome to check that the status reads Linked.
This connects the same Dreamehome service; it is an alternative starting point for account linking.
Which Alexa Commands Can You Use?
Begin each instruction with “Alexa, ask Dreame Bot to …” and finish with a phrase below.
The tables cover every command category in Dreame’s U.S. support guide for the Alexa skill. Use only features your robot and dock support.
Cleaning and Robot Controls
| What You Want to Do | Finish the Command With |
|---|---|
| Start cleaning | “Clean.” |
| Clean a mapped room | “Clean the kitchen.” |
| Stop cleaning | “Stop.” |
| Pause cleaning | “Pause.” |
| Resume cleaning | “Resume.” |
| Check its status | “Give me an update.” |
| Return to the dock | “Dock.” |
| Find the robot | “Say hi.” |
| Create a map | “Start mapping.” |
For example, say, “Alexa, ask Dreame Bot to clean.”
Documented alternatives include “start cleaning,” “vacuum” and “start vacuuming”; “stop cleaning” and “stop vacuuming”; “pause cleaning” and “pause vacuuming”; “recharge”; and “map” or “start fast mapping.”
Suction and Water Settings
| What You Want to Change | Finish the Command With |
|---|---|
| Quiet suction | “Change to quiet.” |
| Standard suction | “Change to standard.” |
| Strong suction | “Change to strong.” |
| Turbo suction | “Change to turbo.” |
| Low water level | “Change to low.” |
| Medium water level | “Change to medium.” |
| High water level | “Change to high.” |
Dock Maintenance
| What You Want to Do | Finish the Command With |
|---|---|
| Empty the robot’s dustbin into the dock | “Collect dust.” |
| Start mop washing | “Do self-cleaning.” |
Dreame’s North American support team also lists the following model-specific controls in its Alexa command response to an X40 Ultra owner. Confirm support for your model before relying on them.
| What You Want to Do | Finish the Command With |
|---|---|
| Pause mop washing | “Pause self-cleaning.” |
| Resume mop washing | “Resume self-cleaning.” |
| Start mop drying | “Dry the mop.” |
| Stop mop drying | “Finish drying the mop.” |
How Do You Choose a Particular Robot?
Dreame documents named-device commands such as “Alexa, ask Dreame Bot to start cleaning with Drimi.” Replace “Drimi” with your robot’s name.
Other examples include “pause cleaning with Drimi,” “resume with Drimi” and “dock with Drimi.”
How Do You Set Up Room Cleaning?
Create and name the rooms on the vacuum’s map in Dreamehome before requesting a particular room.
Dreame’s Alexa guide specifies these room labels: Living Room, Primary Bedroom, Study, Kitchen, Dining Hall, Bathroom, Balcony, Corridor, Utility Room, Closet, Drawing Room, Office, Fitness Area, Recreation Area and Secondary Bedroom.
Use the corresponding labels offered in your app. An arbitrary custom name may not work.
Assigning the vacuum to a room in Alexa only organizes the smart-home device. It does not define a cleaning boundary or replace the Dreamehome map.
How Can You Tell Whether Linking Worked?
Say, “Alexa, ask Dreame Bot to start cleaning.” Watch the robot or check its status in Dreamehome, then test pausing and returning to the dock.
Open the vacuum’s device entry in Alexa and try any available controls, too. Confirm that each action works before adding it to a routine.
The built-in “OK, Dreame” assistant on compatible models is separate from Alexa. A command working directly with the robot does not establish that Alexa supports it.

What If Alexa Cannot Find or Control the Vacuum?
Try Dreamehome first. If the robot does not respond there, restore its connection before troubleshooting Alexa.
If it works in Dreamehome:
- Confirm that you enabled Dreamehome and linked the account that owns the robot.
- Check compatibility for your model and account region.
- Run device discovery again.
- Test a basic command that includes “ask Dreame Bot.”
If an existing connection keeps failing, follow Dreame’s account-relinking instructions in the Alexa skill guide. In Dreamehome, open Me, Voice Control and Amazon Alexa, unlink the existing connection, then complete linking again.
Contact Dreame support if the service is unavailable or the same error returns. Provide your model name, the exact command you tried and Alexa’s response. Use a factory reset only when Dreame’s troubleshooting instructions call for it.
