Compatible Ecovacs DEEBOT robot vacuums can connect to Apple Home through Matter, allowing owners to control cleaning, use Siri voice commands and incorporate their robots into smart home automations.

The integration also supports local control, meaning basic cleaning commands can work without an internet connection as long as the robot and Apple Home controller remain connected to a functioning home network.

Apple introduced robot vacuum support with iOS 18.4 in March 2025. Ecovacs subsequently expanded Matter compatibility across its DEEBOT lineup, including newer X12, X11, X9 and T90 models.

Apple Home provides convenient everyday controls, although advanced cleaning settings remain available through the Ecovacs Home app.

How to Connect Ecovacs to Apple Home

Before starting, confirm that your DEEBOT supports Matter, has received the necessary firmware update and is connected to Wi-Fi through Ecovacs Home.

You'll need an iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 18.4 or later and the latest version of the Ecovacs Home app.

A compatible Apple Home hub, such as a HomePod or Apple TV, is needed for remote access and home automations.

How to Control Ecovacs Through Apple Home

Once connected, your DEEBOT appears as a robot vacuum accessory alongside other compatible devices in Apple's Home app.

Selecting the robot opens its available cleaning controls, which may include:

  • Starting and stopping cleaning
  • Selecting vacuuming or mopping modes
  • Cleaning individual rooms
  • Returning the robot to its charging dock
  • Checking cleaning and operating status

Available functions vary by model, firmware and the features exposed through Matter.

Cleaning Individual Rooms

Apple Home supports room-specific cleaning on compatible Matter robot vacuums.

For this feature to work, the DEEBOT must have an existing floor map with rooms identified in Ecovacs Home. The robot must also share that room information through Matter.

Assigning the DEEBOT to a room in Apple Home only determines where the accessory appears in Apple's interface. It doesn't automatically select that room as a cleaning destination.

Using Siri to Control Ecovacs

Siri allows owners to control supported cleaning functions without opening either app.

Depending on the available Matter features, example requests may include:

  • "Siri, start vacuuming."
  • "Siri, stop cleaning."
  • "Siri, clean the kitchen."
  • "Siri, vacuum and mop the living room."
  • "Siri, send the vacuum back to its dock."

These are examples of possible Siri requests rather than an Ecovacs-verified command list. Availability depends on the robot's Matter implementation and Apple's software.

Giving the robot a distinctive name can also help Siri identify the correct accessory, particularly in households with multiple robot vacuums.

Why Connect Ecovacs to Apple Home?

The biggest advantage is bringing DEEBOT cleaning controls into an existing Apple smart home setup.

Instead of opening Ecovacs Home for routine cleaning, owners can manage their robot alongside lights, thermostats and other connected accessories.

Apple Home also supports scenes and automations that allow compatible devices to work together.

For example, a departure automation could start cleaning when everyone leaves home, while another scene could combine vacuuming with changes to lighting or temperature settings.

Available automation actions depend on the controls exposed by the DEEBOT and supported by Apple Home.

A compatible HomePod or Apple TV also enables remote access, allowing owners to operate supported functions while away from home.

Apple Home can also provide shared accessory access to invited household members without requiring everyone to control the vacuum through the same Ecovacs Home account.

Can You Use Ecovacs Without an Internet Connection?

Yes, in certain circumstances. Matter supports local communication, allowing compatible devices to exchange commands over a home network without relying on the manufacturer's cloud servers for every request.

Once paired, basic Apple Home controls may continue working during an internet outage if the DEEBOT, Wi-Fi network and Apple Home controller remain operational.

Here's what to expect:

  • Internet outage: Local Matter commands should continue working if the home network remains operational.
  • Wi-Fi outage: Apple Home cannot communicate with the robot over Wi-Fi.
  • Away from home: Remote access requires internet connectivity and a compatible Apple Home hub.
  • Ecovacs cloud outage: Local Matter commands may remain available, although cloud-dependent functions could be affected.
  • No network connection: Basic cleaning and docking functions may still be available through the robot's physical controls.

Some DEEBOT models also include Ecovacs' built-in YIKO voice assistant, allowing owners to issue commands directly to the robot without using Siri.

YIKO and Siri are separate systems, and YIKO's offline capabilities depend on the specific model.

Local Matter communication doesn't guarantee every feature will remain available during an internet outage. Actual behavior depends on the robot, firmware and network configuration.

Which Ecovacs Models Support Apple Home?

Ecovacs has expanded Matter compatibility across several generations of DEEBOT robot vacuums.

In November 2025, the company announced Matter 1.4 support for its X2, X8, T50 and T50 Max product families through phased firmware updates.

The lineup has since grown to include newer X12, X11, X9 and T90 models.

Models with announced or documented Matter support include:

X Series

  • Ecovacs DEEBOT X12 OmniCyclone
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT X11S OmniCyclone
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT X11 Pro Omni
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 Pro Omni
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 Pro Omni
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT X2
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT X2 Combo

T Series

  • Ecovacs DEEBOT T90S Pro Omni
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT T90 Max Plus Omni
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT T90 Pro Omni
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT T80 Omni
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT T50 Max Pro Omni
  • Ecovacs DEEBOT T50 family

Matter compatibility is documented for these models through manufacturer announcements, product information or Matter device listings. However, that doesn't establish that every regional variant has received the required firmware.

In particular, owners should not assume that Matter support extends automatically to every model carrying the X12S, T90S or T90 Max name.

Owners should check for the Matter pairing option in Ecovacs Home before attempting to connect their robot.

What Features Are Missing From Apple Home?

Apple Home focuses on everyday cleaning commands rather than detailed robot vacuum management.

The Ecovacs Home app remains necessary for advanced functions such as:

  • Creating and editing floor maps
  • Adjusting room boundaries
  • Creating virtual walls and restricted areas
  • Configuring obstacle avoidance settings
  • Customizing suction and mopping preferences
  • Managing mop washing and drying
  • Accessing detailed cleaning histories
  • Installing firmware updates

Model-specific features, including specialized cleaning routines, camera functions and dock maintenance settings, also remain primarily within Ecovacs Home.

Apple Home is therefore an additional control option rather than a complete replacement for the manufacturer's software.

Can Older Ecovacs Vacuums Use Apple Home?

DEEBOT models without native Matter compatibility cannot connect directly to Apple Home through the standard pairing procedure.

Some older Ecovacs robots support other voice assistants or smart home integrations, but those connections don't automatically make the robot available as an Apple Home accessory.

Third-party platforms such as Homebridge and Home Assistant may provide alternative integration options for certain models.

However, these methods require additional configuration, may depend on unofficial integrations and don't provide the same experience as native Matter support.

What if Your Ecovacs Won't Connect?

If the Matter setting is missing from Ecovacs Home, confirm that your model supports it and has received the necessary firmware update.

If the option is available but pairing fails, check that the DEEBOT is online, Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone and both devices are connected to the home network.

Ecovacs recommends a compatible 2.4 GHz or mixed-band Wi-Fi network for connecting its robots. Hidden networks, VPNs and certain network authentication configurations may interfere with setup.

Restarting the robot, router or Apple Home hub may resolve temporary connection problems.

If the robot was previously added to Apple Home, remove the old accessory entry and follow Ecovacs' instructions to obtain a new Matter pairing code.

Factory resetting the robot should be a last resort because it may affect saved maps and cleaning settings.

Is Apple Home Worth Using With Ecovacs?

For households already using Apple's smart home ecosystem, Matter offers a convenient way to control compatible DEEBOT vacuums alongside other connected devices.

Siri voice commands, shared household access and supported automations can simplify everyday cleaning without requiring owners to open Ecovacs Home.

Local communication also offers an advantage during internet interruptions, provided the home network remains operational.

However, owners who want detailed control over cleaning patterns, mopping preferences, maps and dock maintenance will still need the Ecovacs Home app.

As Ecovacs expands Matter support, the usefulness of Apple Home will depend on which cleaning functions each model makes available through the standard.
