How to Create and Edit Your Mova Map
Save your home’s layout, correct room boundaries and set useful cleaning exclusions.
A good map makes room cleaning easier. Before scheduling the kitchen or blocking a troublesome corner, check that the robot has recorded the rooms and routes it can actually reach.
These instructions focus on Mova’s 2026 robot vacuums. Spinning-pad, roller-mop and dock designs differ across the lineup.
How Should You Prepare the Home?
Put the dock in its intended position. Open doors to the rooms you want included, remove loose cords and clear narrow passageways.
Keep the dock in place during mapping. A closed door can leave a room out of the result even when the rest of the map looks complete.
How Do You Make the First Map?
- Open the robot in the MOVAhome app.
- Start the mapping or first-cleaning process offered during setup.
- Let the robot complete the run without carrying it between rooms.
- Save or confirm the result when prompted.
- Review the map before creating room-specific tasks.
Use MOVAhome’s map-editing controls for room divisions and boundaries. Treat obstacle labels and cleaning exclusions as different tools: an identified object is not automatically a permanent no-go area.

Can You Split, Merge or Rename Rooms?
Use the room editor where those controls are offered. Split an open-plan area if you want separate cleaning selections, or merge adjacent sections that belong to one room.
Choose clear names such as Kitchen or Guest bedroom. After saving, select a room on the map and confirm that the highlighted area matches your intention.
If your app does not offer a particular editing control, use the supported room or area tools rather than deleting a usable map to find it.
What Is the Difference Between a Cleaning Zone and a No-Go Zone?
A cleaning zone selects an area for a task. A no-go zone excludes an area from cleaning. A virtual wall, where offered, creates a boundary line.
Check the active map before adding restrictions. Keep access to the dock open, and use physical protection around hazardous drops; app boundaries are not safety barriers.

What If the Map Is Incomplete?
Check for closed doors, blocked thresholds and the wrong selected floor. Review the app’s options for extending or correcting the map before starting over.
After significant edits, run a small room-cleaning job to check the result before relying on a schedule.
