Anthbot R7 Series Takes On Tougher Terrain With Six-Motor AWD, Adds Edge Trimming

Anthbot’s new R7 Series adds six-motor AWD, dual lidar navigation and a retractable edge-trimming arm, with three models planned for release.

Anthbot introduced its R7 Series robotic mowers at IFA 2026 with a six-motor all-wheel-drive system, dual lidar navigation and a retractable edge-trimming arm.

The lineup includes the R716, R720 and R730. The R716 and R720 offer the EdgeEase trimming arm as an option, while it comes standard on the R730.

Six-Motor AWD Is a Major Upgrade

Compared with Anthbot’s current mowers, the R7 represents a significant hardware change.

The M5, M9 and M5 Lidar use two rear drive wheels and are rated for slopes up to 24 degrees. The R7 moves to four-wheel drive with four drive motors and two independent steering motors.

Anthbot says the new system can handle slopes up to 40 degrees and vertical obstacles up to 2.4 inches.

The cutting system also changes from the single-disc setup used on current Anthbot models to dual floating cutting discs designed to better follow uneven ground.

EdgeEase Adds Robotic Edge Trimming

EdgeEase uses a retractable trimming arm to cut along walls, fences, flower beds and other lawn boundaries.

The system operates separately from the main cutting discs and uses its own camera and lidar sensors to follow the lawn edge as the mower moves.

It is also a first for Anthbot, whose current mowers do not use a dedicated robotic trimming arm.

Anthbot has not said how far the arm extends or provided details on how it handles obstacles along the boundary.

Anthbot’s HoloSense navigation system combines dual lidar, PPP-RTK positioning and camera-based vision.

That differs from Anthbot’s current lineup, which separates lidar- and RTK-based navigation across different models.

The R730 also includes infrared thermal detection designed to identify animals hidden in grass, including hedgehogs.

R730 Gets a Larger Battery

The R730 uses a 270-Wh battery, compared with 180 Wh on the R716 and R720.

Anthbot says the R730 can mow about 0.15 acre per charge, with enough charging cycles to cover up to about 1 acre over 12 hours. A full recharge takes about 60 minutes.

Pricing and Availability

The R7 Series is being shown at IFA 2026 ahead of its commercial release, with pricing and regional availability still to be announced.
