DJI Unveils ROMO 2 With New Mop Arm, Local-Only Data Mode
DJI’s ROMO 2 adds an extended-reach robotic mop arm, upgraded obstacle detection, higher threshold clearance and a new Local Data Mode that can keep camera and video data off external servers.
DJI launched the ROMO 2 Series on Thursday, introducing an extended-reach, lidar-guided robotic mop arm that reaches farther beyond the robot to clean along edges and around furniture, along with upgraded obstacle detection, higher threshold clearance and an updated self-cleaning base station.
The ROMO 2 Series includes the ROMO P2 and ROMO A2.
Robotic Mop Arm Reaches Farther
The new mop arm uses lidar to adjust as the robot moves, helping it clean closer to walls, furniture and other obstacles.
DJI says the arm extends cleaning reach by 3.1 inches and can mop up to 1.8 inches farther under floating furniture.
The robot can also change how it uses the arm based on what it detects, including extending the mop toward liquid spills while trying to avoid spreading them.
Obstacle Avoidance Gets a Major Update
The company says ROMO 2 can detect objects as thin as 0.08 inches, including cables and pet training pads, and recognize transparent obstacles such as glass and mirrors.
A downward-facing light helps it spot dirt and smaller objects in darker areas.
ROMO 2 can also distinguish between debris and liquid, then adjust cleaning by changing suction, lifting the mop pads, remopping an area or choosing a clearer path through clutter.
DJI also says the robot will learn from previous encounters and recognize unfamiliar objects.
Local Data Mode Adds More Privacy Control
DJI is also adding a Local Data Mode to ROMO 2.
When enabled, the mode disconnects the DJI Home app from the internet, preventing photos and video collected by the robot from being synchronized with outside servers.
Users can also disable the robot's camera and microphone through the app.
DJI says Local Data Mode will arrive during the fourth quarter of 2026. The company has not confirmed whether the feature will also come to the original ROMO.
Higher Threshold Clearance
ROMO 2 gets a major increase in threshold clearance. The original ROMO could cross obstacles up to 0.98 inches without a ramp, while ROMO 2 can clear a single 1.57-inch threshold or a two-stage transition up to 3.35 inches.
A lifting chassis raises the robot to help it cross taller obstacles.
Cleaning System and Base Station Get Smaller Updates
DJI rates ROMO 2 at 36,000 Pa of suction. On carpet, a pressure plate lowers around the intake to create a tighter seal against the floor, while dual side brushes use overlapping bristles designed to move debris toward the main intake and reduce hair tangles.
The base station also gets an updated mop-washing area with a stain-resistant washboard, four water jets and a larger waste-water opening designed to flush debris away more effectively.
DJI says the washboard can go up to 365 days without manual cleaning.
The company also added more sound insulation to the robot and base station. ROMO 2 can operate as low as 38 dBA while mopping.
The robot supports 55-watt fast charging and can fully recharge in 2.5 hours.
Pricing and Availability
DJI says ROMO 2 will be available to order beginning in September through its online store and authorized retailers in Europe.
The ROMO P2 is priced at €1,299 and the A2 at €1,199. The Clean More Combo bundle with additional consumables is €1,349.
DJI has not announced U.S. pricing or availability for ROMO 2, as the company faces growing political and regulatory pressure in the United States. The original ROMO was never officially launched in the U.S., despite being released in Canada and Europe.
