MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller Complete Officially Launches in the U.S.

MOVA has officially launched the Z70 Ultra Roller Complete in the United States for $1299, bringing its latest flagship roller-mop robot vacuum to the U.S. market.

The new model features a redesigned robot and base station, along with several updates over the Z60 Ultra Roller Complete to its cleaning, navigation and charging systems.

Updated Roller Mopping System

The Z70 uses MOVA's HydroForce Mopping 2.0 system, increasing downward pressure from 17N on the Z60 to 18N. MOVA rates the new system at 5,000 Pa of pressure, compared with 4,100 Pa on the Z60.

As before, 12 nozzles continuously spray fresh water across the roller while dirty water is scraped away and collected inside the robot.

The roller itself has been redesigned. It is now 10.6 inches wide, compared with 10.1 inches on the Z60, and uses an upgraded microfiber material designed to hold more water and reduce streaking.

Its outward extension also increases from 1.61 inches to just over 2 inches, giving the roller additional reach along walls and into corners.

The Z70 retains MOVA's real-time roller-fluffing system, although it runs at 800 rpm, down from 1,000 rpm on the Z60. The system lifts the roller fibers while cleaning to reduce matting and maintain contact with the floor.

Expanded Obstacle Recognition

MOVA has also expanded the Z70's obstacle recognition.

The robot combines an RGB camera, dual 3D structured light and an LED for darker areas. MOVA says it can recognize more than 300 types of obstacles, up from more than 200 on the Z60.

A new InfiniteEye feature also allows users to identify up to 60 additional objects through the MOVAhome app and set how closely the robot should approach them.

The Z70 retains the Z60's retractable lidar system, allowing the sensor to lower into the body when the robot needs to clean underneath furniture. Both models measure 3.8 inches tall with the sensor retracted.

Faster Charging

The Z70 retains the Z60's 6,400 mAh battery, with MOVA rating the new model for cleaning up to 2,690 square feet on a single charge.

MOVA says its Quick Flash Charge system improves charging efficiency by 30 percent.

Redesigned Robot and Base Station

MOVA has redesigned both the robot and base station for the Z70.

The robot keeps the Z60's round shape and retractable lidar but drops the bronze-colored trim for a more uniform black finish. MOVA has also reworked the upper shell and front sensor area to better match the new base station.

The base station gets the bigger visual change, replacing the Z60's rounded cabinet and contrasting trim with flatter surfaces, straighter edges and a nearly all-black exterior.

The robot opening is also more integrated into the lower portion of the base station.

According to MOVA's web site, the redesigned base station measures 16.5 inches wide, 17 inches deep and 19.7 inches tall.

More Than Cosmetic Changes

The dust bag increases from 3.2 liters on the Z60 to 4 liters on the Z70. The clean-water tank grows from 4 liters to 5.5 liters, while the dirty-water tank increases from 3.5 liters to 4.5 liters.

Like the Z60, the base station can automatically empty the robot, refill its internal water supply, dispense cleaning solution and wash and dry the roller.

The base station now washes the roller with water heated to 212 degrees Fahrenheit, up from 176 degrees on the Z60. Hot-air drying reaches up to 158 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Z70 base station also adds UV sterilization and retains MOVA's DuoSolution system, which uses separate compartments for cleaning solutions.

An optional water hookup kit can automatically refill clean water and drain dirty water, but it is not yet available in the United States.

More Suction and Improved Threshold Crossing

Maximum suction increases from 28,000 Pa on the Z60 to 36,000 Pa on the Z70.

Threshold crossing also improves through StepMaster 2.0. MOVA rates the Z70 for a combined two-stage obstacle up to 3.54 inches, compared with 3.15 inches on the Z60.

Both models can cross a single vertical obstacle up to 1.89 inches. StepMaster uses retractable robotic legs to help lift the robot as it crosses taller obstacles.

The Z70 also retains AutoShield carpet protection. Its roller mop can lift 0.51 inch while a physical shield covers the wet roller to reduce moisture contact with carpet.

The One Downgrade

One feature that does not carry over from the Z60 Ultra Roller Complete is its LiftPro chassis.

The Z60 can raise its entire chassis when it encounters low obstacles such as shag rugs, providing additional clearance while moving across thicker carpet and rugs.

For homes with plush carpeting or thick rugs, the lack of LiftPro is a major downgrade.

The Z70 improves its ability to cross taller thresholds through StepMaster 2.0, but it does not have the Z60's separate chassis-lifting system for carpet.

Pricing and Availability

The MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller Complete has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,299 and is available in black only.
